Spring 2015 Newsletter - Opus 8

We are looking forward to a great finale to our music year and have so much exciting news to share with each of our wonderful Motif families this Spring!

TEACHER FEATURE

We are excited to welcome  Coralea Klassen to our teaching team at Motif.  Coralea is a well-loved instructor who is kind, detailed and enjoys challenging her students to develop technical skill and musicality from the earliest stages of learning.  Coralea will be offering lesson times for piano and theory rudiments for the Spring term.

INTRODUCING THE COMOX VALLEY STRINGS COLLECTIVE

A group of four fabulous students, led by teacher Tanya, met on Saturday mornings for the past few months to learn and prepare a lovely set of chamber music.  These students shared their pieces in a Sunday afternoon concert with parents, grandparents, staff and residents at the Comox Valley Senior’s Village.

 

Let us know if you are interested in joining a chamber group this Spring.  The group meets Saturday mornings from 10:00 -11:30am with teacher Tanya at the Comox Valley Senior’s Village.

Playhouse Café is a family destination right in Tin Town for parents or caregivers to enjoy the café while their children play in a safe and fun environment.  Teacher Amie will be hosting a Motif Minis - Music & Me Class  for children six and under on March 18, 2015 at 10:30am.

SUMMER JUMP START PROGRAM 2015

We are very excited to be offering some special programs this summer!  There will be opportunity for one-week summer camps including Musical Theatre, Theory Intensive, Multi-Instrument Ensemble Camps and a Strings Camp.

 

We also have special lesson packages available with select instructors for private lessons to give students a change of pace and choose what area they would like to focus on.  These packages will include four private lessons and one group class.  There is option for: Composition / Song Writing, Theory, Technique, Ear Training, Music Fundamentals Classes for new beginners and Duet Lessons where you can sign up with a friend!  Stay tuned for more details to come early this Spring!

We are so proud of the students who took on the challenge of completing RCM exams in the past music year (MAY 2014-Jan 2015).  A huge congratulations to each of you and we hope you are inspired to continue your music learning in the years to come!   Another congratulations to each and every student that participated in the North Island Festival of the Performing Arts this year.   It is a huge effort for students and instructors alike and we are so proud of each and every one of you.
